PALMER REALTY was establishedby John S. Palmer in the spring of 1945 in Temple, Maine, moved to 145 Wilton Road in Farmington in 1951, and in August of 2011 moved to our new and spacious office located at 380 Wilton Road in Farmington.
Mr. Palmer came to Maine and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, and while there developed a love for Maine that lasted a lifetime. He loved people and had a special knack of putting them at eaase in a business setting and had a never ending desire to help them improve their lives and what better way than selling a family a home! Mr. Palmer passed away in 1981 after doing a day of what he loved best- Selling Real Estate! Over the years he sold most of the homes in the Farmington-Wilton area at least once and often several times. His clients started with the grandparents, parents, children, and even grandchildren of his friends and neighbors. His philosophy included the idea that finding the property for a buyer was only half the job and that of equal importance was understanding financing options, and the bankers. One of the early presidents of Franklin Savings Bank remarked that when "Jack" (as he was well known) brought buyers into the bank for a closing, "they usually left with a house and money in their pockets!"
Jack's love of the real estate business and our family serving your family is still a cornerstone of our business today. His wife Evelyn was active in the business, as was, and is, their daughter, Carol Palmer Hatch, who grew up in the Real Estate business and started showing property as soon as she got her driver's license at age 15. After completing college and getting married, she brought her husband Willard (from Arizona) and small family back to Maine to join the family business in 1972.
Today, the brokers and associates of Palmer Realty include Willard and Carol Hatch, Trudy Johnson, Leah Danala, and Chris Begin. Trudy Johnson joined the firm in 2001. She is a Farmington native who grew up at Sandy River Farms, one of the largest dairy farms in Maine. Leah Danala joined the firm in 2008. She grew up in Skowhegan and is an avid skier and mother of two busy little girls. In 2010, Chris Begin of Farmington joined the firm. He divides his time between serving real estate customers/clients and enjoying and sharing all that Maine has to offer as a Registered Maine Guide.
